ABSTRACT

Membrane separation technology becomes the most promising separation technology in the 21st century due to its advantage of high efficiency, energy saving, and environmental protection. It has been extend applied in the areas of waste water treatment, food purification, biotechnology, environmental protection, and optimization. Chinese materia medica (including compoud) have rich resource and multi-component, as a special kind of material, separation operation runs through the entire process, which is the main part of the whole production process. Since the 90s of the 20th century, new separation technology materials and related technologies, such as membrane separation technology, macroporous resin technology in production industrial were gradually used in Chinese materia medica pharmaceutical industry in China. In this paper, the main research progress of membrane separation technology in the chemical constituents separation of Chinese materia medica in recent years are reviewed.

ABSTRACT

Chinese materia medica (CMM) compound is the main form of clinical treatment of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). The compatibility of CMM is one of the key scientific issues in the modernization of TCM. It has long been listed as a strategic issue. This article follows the natural attributes of TCM theory, and uses supramolecular chemistry to clarify the qualitative and quantitative effects of CMM compound and human body imprinting template: CMM and human body are giant and complex bio-molecular bodies, and there are corresponding groups of effective components of CMM and human diseases. The “imprinting template” produces a “gas evolution” according to the imprinting rule, and the compatibility of CMM can significantly change this effect, and it is preferable to study with supramolecular chemistry. Based on this, this paper first combs the historical evolution of CMM and the status quo of modern research, combined with supramolecular chemistry, puts forward seven key problems and research strategies to be solved, aiming at solving the key scientific problems of the modernization of TCM.

ABSTRACT

Artificial neural network (ANN) has been a hot topic in the field of artificial intelligence since 1980s. It abstracts the neural network of human brain from the angle of information processing and establishes some simple model. It is widely used in computer, physics, economics, medicine and other industries to form different networks according to different connection modes to realize the joint action of advanced machine and associative memory. It adopts parallel and distributed processing method, which has the characteristics of high fault tolerance, intelligence, autonomous learning and so on. It has the unique advantage to deal with complex problems. However, the research contents are complicated and numerous in the field of Chinese materia medica (CMM). The advantages of ANN can deal with these problems well and have good complementarity. Therefore, the application of ANN is becoming more and more extensive in the field of CMM research. This paper attempts to summarize the application of ANN in the field of CMM research in order to provide support and reference for the research of CMM modernization.

ABSTRACT

Chinese materia medica (CMM) compound is the quintessence of traditional Chinese medicine culture, the main form in clinic of traditional Chinese medicine, the main categories and direction of research and registration of new CMM products, and an important carrier for traditional Chinese medicine inheritance and innovation. Due to the characteristics of complicated chemical constituents, weak research foundation, unclear effective components and multi-target effects, coupled with the limitations of research methods and evaluation of CMM compound preparation, how to scientifically carry out the design of CMM compound preparation has become a difficult question to answer. In this paper, from the basic attributes and requirements of drugs, combined with the discussion of research and development path, rule, strategy of new CMM compound preparation, it is proposed that the design of CMM compound preparation should be based on clinical value and inheritance and innovation, in the principle of the safety and effectivity of preparations, respecting traditional medicine experience, quality by design, whole quality evaluation, and quality uniformity and stability, etc. The pretreatment, dosage, process, dosage form, formulation design, equipment selection and industrial production in the CMM compound preparation design are also discussed.

ABSTRACT

Chinese materia medica (CMM) compound is the main form and method of clinical drug in traditional Chinese medicine. On the basis of guaranteeing the safety, efficiency, stability, and controllability of CMM compound preparations, it is particularly important to rationally design process routes, production equipment, and quality control methods, and to establish a processing research model which conforms to the characteristics of CMM compound preparations. According to the status of policy, process, and equipment of CMM compound preparations, we analyze the technological mode of CMM compound preparations using holistic view, dynamic view, and dialectical view, break through the difficulties of this study, and propose research strategies for the development of CMM compound preparations, hoping to provide references for the preparation of CMM compound formulations.

ABSTRACT

Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) is a common glomerular disease, and nephrotic syndrome is the main clinical manifestation. The prognosis of the kidney is mainly related to proteinuria severity, renal function, and drug response. The use of chemical drugs such as hormones and immunosuppressants is not effective in the treatment of some FSGS patients, and the side effects are obvious. In recent years, with the in-depth research on the treatment of FSGS by traditional Chinese medicine and the proof of clinical efficacy, traditional Chinese medicine has great advantages in delaying glomerular sclerosis and reducing the side effects of chemical drugs. The present situation of Chinese medicine treatment in FSGS is reviewed in this paper.

ABSTRACT

Functional dyspepsia (FD) is one of the most common functional gastrointestinal diseases in the digestive system. The morbidity of this disease is high and increasing year by year. FD has become an important disease which causes serious damage to children's health. The etiology and pathogenesis of this disease are not yet clear. Western medicine treatment of FD is mainly symptomatic treatment, but has not been satisfied with the efficacy, and there are many side effects. The long-term use of Western medicine will cause a certain adverse reaction. Chinese medicine treatment of FD is effective, and can effectively improve the patient's body state, and fewer side effect is in the treatment of the disease. In this paper, we reviewed the treatment of FD in children with monomer of Chinese materia medica (CMM), single CMM, CMM compound, and integrative Chinese and Western medicine, and analyzed the development prospect and problems of CMM in treating FD.

ABSTRACT

The "black" of Chinese materia medica (CMM) has been criticized all the time. The Maillard reaction exists widely in the course of food processing, which affects the product's color and odor. The suitable conditions of Maillard reaction also exist in the processing of CMM preparation. The Maillard reaction has significant impact to the study of CMM's material basis. So the Maillard reaction and its products in the processing of CMM preparation should be studied. Taking the Danggui Buxue Decoction for instance, the chemical composition of the prescription was consulted by the TCMSP of Northwest A&F University, and then the constituents were classified, the possibility of the Maillard reaction occured in the processing of CMM preparation was analyzed. New ideas on study of material basis of CMM will be put forward.

Human respiratory syncytial virus (hRSV) was considered to be the leading cause of lower respiratory tract disease in infants and young children. So far, there was a lack of effective anti-hRSV drugs and vaccines. In this paper, the latest research progress on anti hRSV infection drugs was reviewed from three aspects of effective constituents of Chinese materia medica, Chinese materia medica, and Chinese medicine compound antiviral inhibitor research and development, which would lay a theoretical foundation for the research and development of anti-hRSV drugs and the anti hRSV infection treatment strategy.

Hyperlipidemia is a common clinical disease. In recent years, the incidence of hyperlipidemia increased, and patients gradually increased. Hyperlipidemia easily leads to atherosclerosis, coronary heart disease and other cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, and causes crisis to human health. Clinically, Western medicine treatment has a good effect, but also the existence of side effects and even toxic effects, long-term use of drug resistance and other issues. Chinese materia medica (CMM) under the guidance of traditional Chinese medicine theory, with good efficacy and side effects of small features in the clinical dialectical treatment, plays the characteristics of Chinese medicine, and has obvious advantages. In this paper, CMM monomer, single CMM, compound, and integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine in the treatment of hyperlipidemia were reviewed, and Chinese medicine lipid-lowering development prospects and problems were analyzed.

ABSTRACT

Primary hypertension, known as one of the most common diseases of the time, is thought to be determined by the combined effect of several risk factors and stages, especially for the interaction of genetic and environmental factors. However, the mechanisms of genetic and environmental factors leading to the increased blood pressure are still not clear. Previous studies appear that Chinese materia medica (CMM) compound shows a good effect in the treatment of hypertension, its mechanisms for the action are mainly related to the activation of the rennin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS), calcium antagonists, blood vessels dilation, the improvement of endothelial function, hemorheology, and insulin resistance. It may also relate to diuretic, the regulation of the blood lipids, AR, ER alpha, and the loss of weight, etc. Therefore, this review summarizes the research progress at home and abroad on the mechanisms of CMM compound in the treatment of hypertension in recent years, aiming to provide information for the clinical treatment of hypertension.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the color of Ruyi Jinhuang Powder (RJP) placebo by using computer color matching technology and achieve fast preparation of RJP placebo. This work provided a new method to simulate the color of Chinese medicine compound placebo. Methods Using the RJP placebo as an example, computer color matching technology was used to establish a mathematical model to correlate the placebo color parameter L, a*, b* value and the colorant concentration. For a measured medicine compound color, the placebo colorant concentration can then be calculated from the model through data fitting and Newton iterative method. The model accuracy was validated using the color comprehensive evaluation index (ΔE). Results The color parameter L, a*, b* of RJP placebo was 68.302 5, 4.079 5, and 34.484 0. The mass fraction of lemon yellow, amaranth, and blue was 0.837 3%, 0.045 8%, and 0.008 5%. The ΔE value between RJP and its placebo was 2.750 0 ± 0.353 6, and there was no obvious visual difference between the medicine compound and its placebo. Conclusion Computer color matching technology can be used to simulate the color of RJP placebo, and can be widely used in the preparation of Chinese medicine placebo.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To synchronously inhale Chinese materia medica compound using particle as inhalation drug delivery system, notoginseng total saponins-tanshinone composite particle was prepared. Methods: The composite particle of notoginseng total saponins-tanshinone was prepared by solvent deposition method and was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), differential thermal analysis (DTA), particle size analysis, and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Results: The notoginseng total saponins-tanshinone composite particle was successfully prepared by solvent deposition method, the results of characterization proved that tanshinone was coated on the notoginseng total saponins core particle. Conclusion: The preparation of composite particle provides an effective way for synchronous inhalation of Chinese materia medica compound prescription and technical support for the preparation of compound dry powder inhalations.

According to two theories,which are "traditional Chinese medicine researching is in the face of a complex opening gigantic system" and "Chinese materia medica compound(CMMC) is the natural combinatorial chemical libraries",the study on active fractions of CMMC has been facing to a complex system with a large number of data that is non-linear,multi-variable,and varieties related to each other.The thinking and method of "combinatorial screening" has been put forward based on these two theories,that is the principle "using the diverse structures of molecules to simulate the diverse organism" used in combinatorial chemistry and the data mining technique was taken into the study on complex system of CMMC.In order to create combinatorial libraries,the two methods were used to obtain the fractions of CMMC.Re-combination group of the CMMC was used,and various industrial separation techniques, such as resin,membrane,were used to replace the diversity of chemosynthesis routes to create "Building Block".Through data mining and knowledge discovery, the intrinsic correlation of CMMC "multi-components and multi-targets" between the chemical composition and the mechanism was carried out.The new technologies which aim at high-throughput screening of CMMC were explored,in order to provide the evidence for setting up an idea with "optimal separation" and optimization design about application system of refining technology.
